~A New Blog look and a favorite book~

It was time for a blog change, and so my dear sister gave my blog a makeover! :D :D Yay!

Now, on to the book I've been reading:

Little Dorrit By Charles Dickens

I love this book. On of my favorite things about it, is that Dickens has captured each and every character style! You can just tell the bright and colorful personalities of everyone, by the way he makes them talk, act, and look. My favorite types of books are the ones that you can picture in your mind, without having any illustrations. This is definitely one of those.
Well, to sum up what I have read so far~
Little Dorrit has grown up in the Marshalsea Debtors Prison since birth. She was the first to be born in the Marshalsea. Ever since her mother's death, she has grown up taking care of her aging father, looking after her older brother Tip, and helping along her older sister Fanny.
To help support them, she has taken up a job with a Mrs. Clenham, an elderly lady who is confined to her room, and cannot walk. Shortly after, Mrs. Clenham's son Arthur, has come home from a lengthy trip overseas where he was for a short time quarantined with a Mr. and Mrs. Meagles and family. (who will be introduced later on) Mr. Clenham wonders at his mother's interest in Little Amy Dorrit, and makes inquiries about her. Realizing her very reduced circumstances, he makes an effort to aid her and her father, and after some slight hesitation on the part of Amy Dorrit, they become good friends.
Meanwhile, Arthur, at the age of 40, has his cap set for Mr. Meagle's lovely daughter "Pet".

That is as far as I have gotten so far, more to follow shortly! :-)

So, to all of you who enjoy a good and lengthy novel, try Little Dorrit! I'm sure you will love it as much as I do! Side note: I will tell you, this is a VERY large book, as are most of Dickens books. So do not be disinclined to read it on account of its size! :D :D

100th Blog Post!!!!!

Welcome to 2011 Folks!!!
It has been a great year, filled with so much change and learning experiences it's hard to keep up. For instance-- remodeling and selling our old house, buying and moving to our new home, purchasing a whole slew of animals and caring for them, gardening a LOT, and just enjoying this great country life that God has given us!

In Honor of the new year, and my 100th blog post, I've decided to let you in on a couple secrets...

1. The Writers Pen blog will now only be used for its original purpose: Writing!
2. Since The Writers Pen is now no longer going to be an everyday blog, another must fill that spot. www.lizziebutterfly.blogspot.com is now the new blog to find out about our everyday country happenings. Check back often, cause I'm going to try to post much more!
3. I've been making dishcloths for many years, and would sell them at farmers markets etc... But now I want to expand, so I've decided to start selling my handcrafted dishcloths. We're still working out the last details etc... etc... and everything should be up and running on Etsy soon! I just thought you'd like to know the upcoming projects! :D I created a blog for it, where you can see my work, though that too will take a little time to develop. No posts on their yet, but  keep the blog address handy! I should have something up within the week. Where's the blog address you ask? www.dillyofadishcloth.blogspot.com

Enjoy this New Year everyone! God Bless!
